Here’s our review of the second pair of PSGA roadshow events, thanks to Mike, our MD, and Andrew, one of our Account Managers. It follows on from our review of Edinburgh and York.
What was on the PSGA agenda?
Delegates heard about:
- OS product news and roadmap
- PSGA developments
- The value of using OS NGD data
- Customer stories
- Aerial Photography for Great Britain (APGB)
- The PSGA’s future capabilities
During breaks, attendees visited OS partners, like us, in the exhibition areas.
PSGA event review: London
The London event took place at Leonardo Royal London St Paul’s Hotel, close to St Paul’s Cathedral. Fittingly, considering the nature of the PSGA, St Paul is the patron saint of public workers as well as the City of London.
Traditionally, most of the footfall at the London PSGA event is from central government, but we were pleasantly surprised with the number of opportunities to say hello to existing customers.
Mike Saunt shares his thoughts, “This event provided a welcome opportunity to talk in person about local customers’ challenges and needs. Due to austerity, many were unable to travel to our recent User Group in Birmingham. Although we hold regular virtual account meetings, it’s not quite the same as seeing each other face-to-face.
“There were also some interesting representatives from central government. Their needs differ greatly from their counterparts in councils and we look forward to helping them understand the benefits of open source geospatial technologies over the coming months.”

PSGA event review: Cardiff
Mike and Andrew couldn’t miss the opportunity to catch up with our Welsh clients at Sophia Gardens, Glamorgan Cricket’s 11,000-seater test match venue and event space, but were they bowled over?
Fortunately, the answer is yes. The venue was bright and spacious and the delegate list was exactly what we’d hoped for. We have a strong Welsh contingent of clients, many of whom joined us in Cardiff.
Sadly, as for all PSGA events, delegates expressed concerns about bare-bone budgets and the pressures facing GIS teams. Unfortunately, we don’t have a magic wand to wave but throughout 2025 we’ll continue to do what we can to help clients’ money stretch further – our involvement in G-Cloud 14 will help – and to encourage knowledge sharing amongst peers.
