Action taken to address 'Heartbleed' vulnerability

- We've addressed the 'Heartbleed' vulnerability

Astun has taken swift action to address a security vulnerability in OpenSSL called 'Heartbleed' which can affect web servers that provide services under HTTPS.

Astun provide an HTTPS base map service as an Astun Data Services (ADS) option solely to integrate with secure systems. We are nonetheless taking action to guard against any potential threat. We are not aware of any issues related to the vulnerability and the risk is small as no confidential information is being sent to us.

As of 10:30 this morning we have upgraded OpenSSL on all servers and are in the process of reissuing our SSL certificate used to provide services via HTTPS (expected to be completed this afternoon).

We do not expect any impact on the base map or syndication services. Further in-depth information about the vulnerability can be found at http://heartbleed.com
