NHS Choices for iShare

NHS Choices data is coming to iShare. As part of Astun Data Services, we will be taking a direct feed of NHS Choices data, spatialising it using PostGIS and then serving it to iShare clients as GML via WFS.

If that is too many acronyms for you, what this means essentially is that iShare customers can get a live feed of up to date NHS services data for display in My House, My Maps and even iShare GIS. There's no data maintenance, no spatial transforms, just a live feed. NHS Choices data includes the locations of GP practises, Hospitals, clinics, dentists, opticians and much more.

Astun will take the service data provided free by the NHS, add geographic coordinates and then translate it into GML - XML that expresses geographical features.

We will host the data, refresh it on a daily basis and make it available via a WFS (Web Feature Service) feed to our iShare clients.
