We have just introduced ‘iShare Backup’ an effective backup solution for iShare deployments. iShare Backup uses a specially written Python script to back up all data held in the Postgres database that is the foundation of all iShare installs.
The script will look for the Postgres database or databases on a server and then perform a backup to a local or remote location or both. The script is configurable so backups can be scheduled and it is also possible define the number that you want to keep. The script also notifies administrators by email when backups have been completed successfully. iShare Backup will be included in the next version of iShare, it has a undergone serious testing and is already in use with Cambridgeshire County Council, Wycombe Council and Surrey Heath Borough Council.
