Vigilance Modeller
Vigilance Modeller is a predictive burglary modeller available to all Crime & Reduction Partnerhsips in the UK.
According to Dr. Shane Johnson of the UCL, Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science, the future pattern of burglaries within an area can be predicted using a mathematical formula that the Institute has developed.
North Lincolnshire Council determined to create a predictive modeller based on the UCL research. The idea from the outset was to use the modeller for more general purposes such as crime prevention, targeting the setting up of neighbourhood watches etc. things that could be handled by community safety partnerships rather than the Police.
