Modules
My Alerts
Keeping the citizens up to date. Automatically.
My Alerts enables a member of the public to sign up to a Local Authority alert service that automatically sends an email when any council related service event happens within a predefined distance from their house. The module plugs into My House and picks up any new additions to data for a particular location.
My Alerts has been designed to enable busy citizens to have a quick and sure-fire way of accessing pertinent information from their Local Authority. It’s based on location, so having found their home normally typing in their post code or street address on the home page, it is then possible for them to sign up for the ‘My Alerts’ service. It varies of course from installation to installation for example the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has integrated it with their property portal so from day one it had 1000+ potential subscribers.
At South Tyneside Council, which was our first and is currently our most comprehensive deployment there are now 21 different potential alerts that a citizen can sign up for, including planning, road works, news and event alerts. In order to get more people to use the service the Council ran a promotion and competition during the summer of 2008 and now have over 800 subscribers.
Once set up My Alerts is completely automated with minimal administration required by the Council. It is also possible for someone to sign up for multiple alerts, i.e. for more than one property which is extremely useful if you are thinking of moving house or own a number of properties in the area. My Alerts is good for Councils that want to encourage citizens to self serve and make the most of savings that occur when they ‘channel shift’ to the Council website
